Day 1: Travel to Zurich

Individual travel to Zurich. Zurich is the “metropolis of experiences” and offers a unique mixture of attractions. Overnight in Zurich.

Day 2: Zurich–St.Gallen

(ca: 150km) After breakfast drive to St.Gallen with a stopover at the Rhine Falls, Europe’s largest waterfall. Overnight in St.Gallen.

Day 3: St.Gallen–Davos

(ca: 160km) On your way to Davos you will pass the village of Appenzell. The Appenzell region is known for rural customs and traditions. Continue your drive and have a stopover at Heidi’s Village in Maienfeld. Overnight in Davos.

Day 4: Davos–Lugano

(ca: 290km) On your way to Lugano in the south of Switzerland you have several opportunities to experience the Grand Tour attractions. Relax for example on a train ride on the most beautiful Alpine train, the Bernina Express. Overnight in Lugano.

Day 5: Lugano–Zermatt

(ca: 215km) Leaving Lugano for Zermatt, one visit that’s a must is Monte Brè. On your way lies Ascona. The city is famous for its mild climate, its Old Town and a lake promenade which is dotted with street cafés. Continue your journey and arrive in the region Valais. Here lies the Aletsch Glacier - the biggest glacier in the Alps. Continue moving down to Täsch which is your last stop by car before you continue by train on to Zermatt. Overnight in Zermatt.

Day 9: Departure Lucerne–Zurich

(ca: 140km) You will spend your last day in one of the most beautiful cities in Switzerland. One of the highlights of Lucerne is the Chapel Bridge. Drive back to Zurich for rental car dropoff at the airport and return journey.

Day 6: Zermatt–Montreux

(ca: 150km)A morning trip up the exhilarating open-air Gornergrat railway is not to be missed, for unrivalled views over 4000m peaks surrounding Zermatt. After making your way back down to Täsch to collect your car, your route begins with a stunning drive up through the Valais, heading through Sierre, Sion, Martigny and Aigle. After this you drive along the shores of Lake Geneva to Montreux. Visit the Chillon Castle. Overnight in Montreux.

Day 7: Montreux–Gstaad

(ca: 330km) Drive through the orchards and terraced vineyards of the Lavaux and further to Lausanne, the second-largest city on Lake Geneva. Make sure you visit the Olympic Museum. Continue your drive to Freiburg, the largest medieval town in Üechtland. Further on your way you will pass the Greyerzer region, with its rolling green landscape. Overnight in Gstaad.

Day 8: Gstaad–Lucerne

(ca: 315km) Before you continue to Lucerne, enjoy the beautiful scenery of the chalet village Gstaad. Continue your drive to Interlaken. From Interlaken you can experience the majestic Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau summits. If you have some time left before you head to Lucerne, Berne is the place to spend it. The old town of Berne is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Overnight in Lucerne.

Day 1: Travel to Zurich

Individual travel to Zurich. As a lakeside “metropolis of experiences”, with a magnificent view of the snow-capped Alps on the horizon, Zurich offers a unique mixture of attractions. Overnight in Zurich.

Day 2: Zurich–Interlaken

(GoldenPass Line Lucerne–Interlaken): Train ride to Lucerne. When boarding the Luzern–Interlaken Express, you are about to go on an unforgettable journey right into the heart of Switzerland. This 2 hour ride will take you along the shores of crystal-clear lakes past romantic waterfalls and over the magnificent Brünig mountain pass. After a short journey you arrive in Interlaken. The city lies in the Bernese Oberland on an alluvial plain, between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz. The vacation destination is overlooked over by the three mighty mountains, Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. Overnight in Interlaken.

Day 3: Interlaken–Montreux

(Jungfraujoch and GoldenPass Line Interlaken–Montreux): Excursion to the Jungfraujoch, which is the highest railway station in Europe at 3454m. Enjoy some breath-taking views of the Alesch Glacier at 22km it is the longest glacier in the Alps and UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the early evening your journey on the GoldenPass Line continues. Along the shores of Lake Thun you will reach the Simmen valley with Zweisimmen and Gstaad. Your journey takes you through the wild and romantic Pays d’Enhaut with the scenic villages of Château d’Oex and Montbovon, and through a tunnel, before a panoramic view of Lake Geneva and Montreux opens in front of you. Overnight in Montreux.

Day 4: Montreux–Zermatt

Journey from Montreux to Zermatt. For the rest of the day you can admire the famous Matterhorn from Zermatt village or take the opportunity to do a non-guided excursion to the Gornergrat. Overnight in Zermatt.

Day 5: Zermatt–St.Moritz

In the morning, take the world-famous Glacier Express for a ride in the panorama carriage to St.Moritz. The train takes you on over the Oberalp pass (2033m) and through the impressive Rhine gorge. Overnight in St.Moritz.

Day 6: St.Moritz–Lugano (Bernina Express)

Board the Bernina Express at St.Moritz station and enjoy one of the most impressive scenic rail journeys Switzerland has to offer. Climbing over the spectacular Bernina pass to more than 2253 m, you pass snow-covered mountain peaks and glaciers then descend towards Poschiavo and Brusio. After travelling over spiral viaducts and through winding tunnels, you reach Tirano in Italy, which is the end of the Bernina line. Change to the Bernina Express Bus which will take you onwards to Lugano. Overnight in Lugano.

Day 7: Lugano–Lucerne

(Gotthard Panorama Express): With the Gotthard Panorama Express you will travel from the Mediterranean south to the traditional heart of Switzerland. The journey takes you along the spectacular Gotthard route – an unforgettable trip through an impressive countryside. You will travel by 1st class panorama carriage from Bellinzona to Flüelen. Passengers will be accompanied in the panorama railcar by a travel guide. Passengers will also be entertained with special effects and additional information on the region such as its sights, mythology and mystique. From Flüelen you will have a boat ride over lake Lucerne. Overnight in Lucerne.

Day 8: Departure Lucerne

Day 1: Zurich City Tour

Airport pick-up and transfer to hotel. In the afternoon enjoy a 2 hour city tour through Zurich with our guide. Overnight stay in Zurich.

Day 2: Exploring Zurich / Liechtenstein

In the morning, excursion to Stein am Rhein and the Rhine Falls. In the afternoon choose between exploring Zurich on your own or our optional excursion to Liechtenstein. Overnight stay in Zurich.

Day 3: Lucerne

Transfer to Lucerne. Sightseeing tour of the city (2 hours). Free time – use the Swiss Coupon Pass vouchers for lunch or shopping. In the afternoon transfer by mini-bus to Interlaken. Overnight in the region of Bernese Oberland.

Day 4: Jungfraujoch

Today, enjoy a free day at leisure or join one of our optional excursions: • Visit Top of Europe and enjoy lunch on Jungfraujoch • Visit the Reichenbach Falls, followed by a scenic boat ride on Lake Brienz • Visit Basel.

Day 5: Thun-Bern

Leaving your hotel for a scenic drive from Thun to Bern. Enjoy a 2 hour city tour. After lunch transfer to the picturesque village of Gruyere - home of the famous Swiss Gruyère cheese. Walk through the village and visit the Gruyère castle (entrance fee payable on spot). Additional excursion to the chocolate factory “Maison Callier” in Broc. Late afternoon transfer to Montreux. Overnight in the region of Montreux.

Day 6: Optional excursion to France

Join our optional excursion to France (8 hours). • Annecy & Yvoire only summer • Annecy & Chamonix only winter • Lavey-Les-Bains in the evening - Overnight stay in Montreux.

Day 7: Montreux - Geneva

After breakfast, visit the Chillon Castle in Montreux (entrance tickets included), before driving along the majestic Swiss Riviera and passing by the Lavaux vineyards - a well-known UNESCO world heritage site.
